There was war. Rune dragons and their bearers were severed, their bond thought to be a perversion of nature that had to be cleansed. Humans weren't meant to have magic, weren't meant to do this, and the two species should go their separate ways. During these trying times, creatures once thought to be nothing more than myths were found-- the Ancients, living embodiments of elements such as the seasons and suns, even things like death and chaos and time itself. It was learned that the Ancient of Chaos himself was behind it all, instigating the war because he believed Eldemore to be growing stagnant and static, things he said went against the very nature of existence. But in the end, he relented, and the attacks were ended. Eldemore entered a period of peace where the world simply tried to rebuild, bonds were re-established, and Runes could be free again.
It wouldn't last.
Present Day.
Something strange is happening in Eldemore. No one knows just how long the cult has existed, though it seems to have been around for at least five years. They worship an entity known only as Sovereign, and say that he is they key to their salvation. This cult is mostly made up of those who were around during the war, and actually agreed that the people of Eld relied too heavily on magic, and that it should be done away with.
While they do little more than preach their beliefs to others, there has been a disturbing discovery-- magic is, indeed, growing weaker in the world. Rune dragons, even bonded ones, are having trouble using their powers any more, and the youngest ones are even beginning to die off. Worse still, the seasons seem to be... changing. Snow in August, burning heat in December. Only their summoners know that even Ancients are beginning to feel the effects of this loss of magic, and if something is not done soon, even the greatest forces of nature themselves might fall.
There is hope, though. Humans are not as affected by this loss, and they have technology on their side. Some bonded Rune dragons can still use their magic, and there are rumors of a few rare individuals with the ability to call upon their own powerful magics without the aid of a Rune dragon, people who don't even seem to be fully human...
Plot.
So this is going to work a bit different than usual, in that there will be specific time limits in which a scene must be finished. And, unless you were involved with the creation, you won't know exactly all of what's going on >D The only information I'll give right now is this: Something is stealing the magic of Eldemore, causing Runes to die off and Ancients to lose their powers. The only ones who can still really use magic are some very old bonded Runes, and a very rare number of people who aren't even fully human at all-- these people are the children of a Ancient and their summoner. It's up to these hybrids and any humans brave enough to rise to the call to find out what is going on, and bring balance back to the world.
Rules.
- 1. Literacy requirements. You should be able to spell properly (or at least use a spell-checker), use proper grammar, and try to match the average post length-- preferably, one paragraph per character you play as.
- 2. Ancients. This roleplay includes spots for children of Ancient Rune dragons and their summoners ('hybrids', unless someone has a better name xD). Age shouldn't be a problem, considering the timespan. Spots for these characters will only be open to those who have their own Ancient, or obtain permission to use an Ancient/Summoner pair from someone who owns one. These slots are also very limited. Please note, only summoner/Ancient pairs that are male/female can qualify, since... well, biology xD.
- 3. Powers. Very simple-- if you are bonded to a Rune, your character's power is derived from what the Rune can do. If you're not, then you have no magic. If you are a hybrid, you can use magic without a Rune, and the power should be something similar *but not the same, of course* as what the Ancient parent has.
- 4. Character limits: Everyone may only have one character at the moment (rune dragons do not count). This may be increased later on. Please note, all characters must be approved before play.
- 5. Other basics. No Godmodding/power playing, no Sues/Stus, don't go ridiculously overboard with violence/swearing/romance.
- 6. Rules are subject to change at any time. This is just because Shepard is a derp and often forgets things xD
Character sheets.
- Code:
[center][size=10]
[b]Username:[/b]
-enter here-
[b]Character Name:[/b]
-enter here-
[b]Age:[/b]
(12-34 allowed. If you have a character under 16, do NOT make them some sort of super child prodigy spy/survivor/etc. Those almost never turn out well and can get very annoying very fast. This applies to hybrids, too.)
[b]Personality:[/b]
(Please at least try and give the major points, but it's okay if you prefer to just roleplay it out.)
[b]Appearance:[/b]
(Any images used MUST be linked.)
[b]History:[/b]
(At least a paragraph or two, explaining their early life and what they've been doing during the decline of magic. If your character is a hybrid, please include some mention of who their parents were)
[b]Any notable skills and/or failings?[/b]
(Keep it relevant to what they may actually be asked to do. It doesn't matter if they don't understand quantum physics, but it WILL matter if they can't read a map or utilize stellar navigation.)
[b]Runes:[/b]
(Do they have any Rune dragons? Include their names, basic personality, and appearances here- feel free to link to their image.)
[b]Bonded Rune?[/b]
(If they have become soul-bound to a Rune, list it here. This is not required.)
[b]Other:[/b]
(Anything that doesn't fit into the above)[/size][/center]
